August is here, and so is Safe + Sound week. Safe + Sound week is a nationwide event held each August that recognizes the successes of workplace health and safety programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep America’s workers safe. This year’s event is set to take place August 12 through August 18, and is focused on celebrating the successes various businesses have had through implementing safety programs in their workplace.
Safe + Sound week is meant to cause awareness about employee safety, hoping to either inspire employers to implement safety programs within their workplace, or improve their existing ones. Employers of all size and industries are highly encouraged to participate in this. Successful safety programs can help identify potential workplace hazards and prevent them before an injury can take place. Last year, over 2,700 businesses helped raise awareness about workers’ health and safety. Ultimately, the goal of this week is to prevent and reduce workplace injuries. Explore our blog for a variety of safety articles that provide tips on safety programs and how to prevent workplace injuries. To participate in Safe + Sound week, visit OSHA’s website, and sign up. You can then host an event, and once that is completed you can download a certificate and web badge to recognize your organization and your workers.
